PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – In a stride toward greater transparency, President Michel Martelly agreed to publish a comprehensive report detailing all the activities related to the National Education Fund on February 30.

The fund, which is financed by a tax levied on international calls and wire transfers to Haiti since 2011, has been the subject of alleged discrepancies and mismanagement. Thus far, critics say, the money intended to provide free education to every child in Haiti, has gone missing.

"There's no other way to put this way, this is rather embarrassing," said committee president Gilbert Bailly. "We can't seem to find the list with all the bands that are supposed to play. And we have absolutely no recollection which bands we invited."
